How radio competitions differ from online prize draws

Radio promotions can involve calls, texts, live answers and strict timing. Here is what makes them different.

Radio competitions often operate differently from a standard web form. Entry may involve a text message, phone call, keyword, live on-air question or a combination of stages, and timing can be central to the mechanic.

Entry windows can be short
A radio promotion may open and close within a programme segment or use multiple daily windows. Do not assume the overall campaign closing date applies to every entry opportunity.

Charges deserve attention
Text and phone routes can carry standard or premium charges. Check the station's official rules and your network costs before entering repeatedly.

Being selected may not mean you have won
Some formats choose an entrant to answer a question, take part in a game or respond to a call within a limited time. Read the mechanic so you know what happens after the initial selection.

Keep your phone available only when appropriate
If the rules say winners or participants will be contacted by phone, make sure your contact details are correct. That does not mean every unknown call should be trusted; verify unexpected prize claims against the official promotion.

Follow the station's current terms
Broadcast promotions can change quickly, so the live station page and terms should take priority over third-party summaries.
