How to use competition filters without missing good prizes

Filters can save time, but a very narrow search can hide competitions you might still enjoy.

Competition filters are designed to reduce noise. They are most useful when you know which restrictions matter and which preferences are flexible.

Start with eligibility
Market and age restrictions are practical filters because an ineligible competition is not useful. Confirm the final detail in the official terms, especially where a promotion uses specific regional wording.

Use prize categories as preferences
Prize filters help focus on things you actually want, but categories are not always perfect. A holiday might also include cash, vouchers or an experience, so occasionally browsing a broader category can reveal relevant opportunities.

Free-entry filters need context
A no-purchase label can include online, postal or alternative routes. Open the listing to understand what the free route actually requires.

Closing-date filters help prioritise
Ending-soon views are useful when you have limited time. Avoid waiting until the final minutes where a form, postal route or technical issue could prevent entry.

Reset filters occasionally
If the same narrow search becomes repetitive, clear a preference and explore. Discovery should remain useful rather than becoming a rigid checklist.
